First READJUST progress meeting in Finland

From 23 to 25 October, the READJUST consortium held its first progress meeting in Tampere, Finland. Partners gathered to discuss advancements made in researching inequalities created or exacerbated by the twin transition.

The meeting commenced with a warm welcome and introduction from the host, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, followed by an overview of the agenda and the meeting goals by project coordinator Tristan de Wildt from Yaghma B.V.. The session continued with work package updates and presentations on future plans to further explore the links between policies and inequalities in the fields of mobility and agri-food. A particular focus was placed on the development of a novel policy tracker tool that aims to identify and map inequalities. In the afternoon, consortium members participated in targeted workshops to discuss key issues, objectives, timelines and the connections between the various work packages. Brainstorming sessions explored the progress in developing the inequality index, a self-assessment tool, and the system modelling of inequality factors. The first day concluded with a summary by Tristan de Wildt and a joint consortium dinner.

Day 1: The READJUST partners in action – holding presentations, discussing updates and engaging in workshops

Day two was filled with workshops aimed at defining the case studies and tools for policy co-creation. The consortium also visited VTT’s mobility lab, where they toured the premises and had the opportunity to experience a self-driving car. On top of it, they got a live demonstration of a remotely controlled vehicle, showcasing a potential future in logistics where one operator could control up to ten vehicles over long distances. On the final day of the meeting, the focus shifted completely to agri-food. Therefore, the partners visited the farm of host Nina Wessberg, where they gained an interesting perspective on the use of digital tools in farming, such as GPS tracking, fertiliser software, and assisted driving for large farming machinery. The meeting wrapped up with a lunch before participants departed. All in all, the meeting was a great success. A sincere thank you to host VTT and to all participants for their contributions. We look forward to next year!
